Summer in Kitsap County: Beaches, Markets & Music

There’s something pretty special about summer in Kitsap County. Maybe it’s the long sunny evenings, the water everywhere you look, or the fact that there always seems to be something fun happening just around the corner.

If you’re looking for a few ways to make the most of summer, here are some of my favorite local ideas.

Find Your Perfect Beach Day

One of the best things about living in Kitsap is having so many beautiful beaches to explore. In my recent video, I shared “four beaches you absolutely cannot miss,” including Arness Roadside Park, SaltAir Beach, Point No Point Lighthouse and Beach, and Foulweather Bluff Preserve.

Each one has something a little different to offer. Whether you’re looking for a place to bring the kids, have a picnic, go paddle boarding or kayaking, or simply enjoy a quiet afternoon by the water, there’s a beach for you.

That’s one of the fun things about exploring our area. You never quite know what you’ll discover!

Shop Local at a Kitsap Farmers Market

Summer is also the perfect time to slow down and shop local. Kitsap County has Farmers Markets all over the peninsula, making it easy to pick up fresh produce, flowers, baked goods, handmade items and plenty of local treats.

A few favorites include the Poulsbo Farmers Market on Saturdays, the Bainbridge Island Farmers Market  on Saturdays, the Bremerton Community Farmers Market on Thursdays, and the Port Orchard Farmers Market on Saturdays. Kingston also has its Sunday Public Market right next to the ferry terminal.

There’s just something about grabbing a coffee, wandering through the vendors and running into friends that makes summer feel like summer.

End the Evening With Live Music

And if you happen to find yourself in Kingston, don’t forget about Concerts at the Cove at Mike Wallace Park. The summer series brings live music to the waterfront on Saturday evenings, with plenty of room to bring a chair or blanket, pack a picnic and enjoy the sunset.

As the event says, “This is a family-friendly event. All are welcome!”

That’s really what I love most about Summer in Kitsap. Whether you’re exploring a new beach, supporting a local farmer or listening to music by the water, there are so many simple ways to enjoy where we live.

So get outside, explore a little, and make the most of these beautiful summer days!
